WP Welding Chucks
Lightweight Large Through-Bore Self-Centering Welding Chucks
WP Welding Chucks are large through-bore self-centering chucks designed for efficient workpiece clamping in welding and cutting applications.
The WP Series features a compact and lightweight structure with convenient manual operation. A handle directly drives the scroll mechanism to move the jaws, allowing fast clamping and release of the workpiece.
The reduced chuck thickness helps lower the workpiece center distance and improve the effective load capability of the welding equipment. With high accuracy, flexible operation and a wide range of available sizes, WP Welding Chucks are suitable for welding positioners and a variety of welding and cutting applications.
Available Models: WP200 – WP900
Chuck Diameter: Ø200 – Ø900 mm
Load Capacity: Up to 1000 kg
Custom Jaws: Extended, 4-jaw, 6-jaw and irregular multi-jaw configurations available
WP Series Manual Welding Chuck Features
Large Through-Bore Design

Standard, Reversed & Custom Jaws
- Standard Jaws
The standard jaw position is suitable for the normal clamping range of each WP model.
Across the WP Series, standard jaw ranges cover workpiece diameters from Ø20 mm up to Ø700 mm, depending on model. - Reversed Jaws
Reversing the jaws increases the available clamping diameter. - For example:
- WP600
Standard jaws: Ø60–410 mm
Reversed jaws: Ø400–700 mm - WP900
Standard jaws: Ø400–700 mm
Reversed jaws: Ø550–950 mm - Extended Jaws
Custom extended jaws can be supplied when a larger clamping range is required.
The catalogue specifically notes that when the workpiece clamping position extends beyond the chuck body, the available clamping/load capability will decrease.
Custom Jaw Configurations
WP Welding Chucks are not limited to a standard three-jaw configuration.
Depending on the workpiece and application, available custom options include:
- 3-Jaw Self-Centering Chuck
- 4-Jaw Chuck
- 6-Jaw Chuck
- Irregular Multi-Jaw Chuck
- Extended Jaw Configuration
The WP catalogue explicitly states that extended jaws, 4-jaw, 6-jaw and irregular multi-jaw chucks can be customized.
Typical Applications
- Welding Positioners
WP Welding Chucks can be mounted on compatible welding positioners to hold and center the workpiece during rotation. - Pipe Welding
The large through-bore design is suitable for pipe and cylindrical workpiece clamping. - Welding & Cutting Equipment
Quick manual clamping and release make the WP Series suitable for repetitive welding and cutting operations. - Flange & Circular Component Fabrication
The self-centering chuck design can be used to position suitable circular components during fabrication. - Rotary Welding Systems
WP chucks can form part of a rotary welding setup together with a compatible positioner or rotating system.
How to Select a WPS Welding Chuck
1. Workpiece Diameter
Determine the minimum and maximum diameter that needs to be clamped.
2. Workpiece Weight
Check the rated load capacity of the selected model.
For example, WP200 is rated for 30 kg, while WP600, WP750 and WP900 are specified at up to 1000 kg load capacity.
3. Jaw Position
Determine whether standard, reversed or extended jaws are required.
4. Workpiece Geometry
Consider the shape, length and actual clamping position of the workpiece.
5. Welding Positioner
Check both the chuck and positioner capacities when the chuck is mounted on a welding positioner.
6. Mounting Interface
Compare D1, D2, D3 and the mounting-hole pattern with the equipment mounting table.
